The Golfer of the Year League is based on the Medal play (strokes) competitions - this year there are 13 stroke play events (see Fixtures).
- Players with scores in the top 20 (nett) across all handicap divisions in each competition get points ranging from 20 points to 1 point.
- Players with equal scores get equal points.
It works like this: If the best score is 65 and the second place is 67, the winner gets 20 points and the second placed player gets 19. Players on the same nett scores get the same league points so if two players or more have equal scores in second place on 67, they each get 19 league points. All players in the top twenty scores of any stroke play competition get points in the Golfer of the Year League, ranging from 20 points to 1 point.
Count back, which operates for prizes on the day, is not relevant in the league.
